Passports
Passport Renewal:
It is considered Passport renewal in the following cases:
A) when the Passport has expired,
B) when the Passport has been reported as lost or stolen,
and C) when there are no pages available in the Passport.
Requirements for renewal:
To request the renewal of a Passport, the interested party must request an appointment by sending an email to uruarabia@mrree.gub.uy or by calling the following telephone line: + 966 (11) 4620739 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Your appointment will be confirmed by telephone in a period of 48-72 hours.
Once your appointment has been confirmed, you must appear before the Consulate located at:
Villa C-40, Alradaef Street, Diplomatic Quarter, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Requirements and documentation to present on the day of your appointment:

Adults
- Previous Uruguayan Passport (expired or about to expire) and/or Cédula de Identidad – Uruguayan ID card – (expire or about to expire). If you do not have any document, we issue an Operative Passport.
- Passports can be renewed up to 1 year prior to its expiration date.
- If you lost your Passport, you will have to present the police report. Alternatively, and in the case that you cannot make said police report, you will have to make a police report in the Consulate.
- We will finger print you, as well as take your picture and signature here at the Consulate.
- Cost: SAR 135, to be deposited or transferred to the Embassy’s bank account –Cash is not accepted- .
- Your Passport will arrive at the Consulate approximately within a period of four to six weeks beginning the day the process was begun.
- If you wish that your Passport should be mailed to your residence, you will have to bring, on the day of your appointment, a paid order of a private carrier.

Minors
- Previous Uruguayan Passport (expired or about to expire) and/or Cédula de Identidad – Uruguayan ID card – (expired or about to expire). (If they do not have any document, we issue an Operative Passport).

- The child’s birth certificate must be presented to confirm affiliation.
- Cost: SAR 135, to be deposited or transferred to the Embassy’s bank account –Cash is not accepted- .

Issuing a Passport for the first time
Natural Citizen
Requirements and documentation to present on the day of your appointment:
- Uruguayan birth certificate
- Cédula de Identidad – Uruguayan ID Card – (expired or about to expire), in the event of having one.
- We will finger print you, as well as take your picture and signature here at the Consulate.
- Cost: SAR 270, to be deposited or transferred to the Embassy’s bank account –Cash is not accepted- .
- If the procedure is for a minor child, both parents will also have to be present on the day of the appointment with a valid ID. If for whatever reason, one of the parents cannot be present on the appointed day they will have to obtain a Minor’s Permit. The minor will have to be present on the day of the appointment with a valid ID.
- If you wish that your Passport should be mailed to your residence, you will have to bring, on the day of your appointment, a paid order of a private carrier.
- The Passport will be received by this Consular Office in an approximate period of four to six weeks beginning on the day that the Passport was processed.
National Law 16021 – Child of a natural Uruguayan citizen, born abroad
Requirements and documentation to present on the day of your appointment:
- Uruguayan mother or father’s birth certificate (or legal guardian).
- Children born abroad, who have registered their birth certificate in Uruguay, you will have to present their Uruguayan birth certificate or if not you will have to present their apostilled birth certificate from the country of origin and translated by a public translator.
- We will finger print you, as well as take your picture and signature here at the Consulate.
- If the procedure is for a minor child, both parents will also have to be present on the day of the appointment with a valid ID. If for whatever reason, one of the parents cannot be present on the appointed day they will have to obtain a Minor’s Permit. The minor will have to be present on the day of the appointment with a valid ID.

National Law 19362 – Grandchild of a natural Uruguayan citizen, born abroad
Requirements and documentation to present on the day of your appointment:
- Uruguayan grandmother or grandfather’s birth certificate
- National Uruguayan father or mother’s birth certificate (apostilled if it is not Uruguayan document)
- Grandchildren born abroad, who have registered their birth certificate in Uruguay, will have to present their Uruguayan birth certificate or if not you will have to present their apostilled birth certificate from the country of origin and translated by a public translator.
- We will finger print you, as well as take your picture and signature here at the Consulate.

Emergency Passport
The emergency passport is issued when the Uruguayan national needs a valid travel document urgently to travel to another country. You can only request this procedure if you have a valid Uruguayan passport that is lost or damaged. This passport is valid for a maximum of one year or until the date of your valid passport if it is prior to the year, is only used in emergency situations. In case of traveling to Uruguay, this document is retained upon entering the country. Therefore, to leave Uruguay again, you must apply for a new passport.

Document valid for a Single Return Trip to Uruguay
Passport Valid for a Single Return Trip to Uruguay
- This document is issued only when the Uruguayan citizen needs a travel document to travel to Uruguay urgently. It can only be requested if the citizen has previously had a Cédula de Identidad (Uruguayan ID card) or Uruguayan Passport. This travel document can only be used once and will remain in the possession of Uruguayan migration authorities once you enter the country.
- It is issued within eight days prior to the trip and handed over the day of the appointment. It is only used for emergency situations.
Requirements and documentation to present on the day of your appointment:
- Previous Uruguayan Passport (expired or about to expire) and/or Cédula de Identidad – Uruguayan ID card – (expired or about to expire) (If you have lost the previously mentioned documents, this document can still be issued through identity confirmation in the Consulate).
- Travel Itinerary
- We will finger print you, as well as take your picture and signature here at the Consulate.
- Cost: SAR 67.50, to be deposited or transferred to the Embassy’s bank account –Cash is not accepted- .
